Search Forums (Advanced) It seems almost impossible to meet other SINGLE 30 plus people in this city :/ My friend and I have been going out regularly on the weekends and notice that the the crowd is mostly college kids or bored married people mixed in. We are both pretty , smart professional females in our early 30s who often times get mistaken for one of the 20 something year old girls patrons but frankly speaking I am sick of drunk boys hitting on us. where are the real men in this city? Activities -- not bar related. Cycling. Rock climbing. Meet-ups (ask.metafilter.org), Shiner Sunday (Love and War in Texas), Jazz under the stars, Galleries, etc. If you are tired of drunk guys, stop going where the guys are drunk. bored married people" -- I am sure you are a big hit with this awesomeness. I think meeting singles through the "bored ole ball and chain" people is how often time people get introduced. I am over 30 and used meetup as a way to make friends. There are some groups dedicated exclusively to 30+, Singles, and/or both. Your problem is that your hitting the bar and club scene. Your best bet is doing activity related things. Whatever your hobby is, do something related to it. If you like to bowl, join a league. If you like outdoor activities, try Events And Adventures is the Club for singles - with singles events in Dallas, San Francisco, Houston, Phoenix, Vancouver BC, Seattle and Minneapolis. A few other suggestions: join a running or cycling group or get involved with volunteering in the area. Anything that is outdoors and involves activity and/or selfless behavior will naturally exclude the drinking and clubbing pop-collar crowd you seem to be attracting. I tried a few of the meetup groups myself but found most of them centered around mid-30's also involved a lot of bitter divorced people. I just saw a commercial for Match.com groups (or something like that). They're doing something similar to meetup. Where are you going? I seem to fit in your target demo and spend my time out near home in East Dallas/Lakewood/Casa Linda: Lakewood Landing, Cosmo's, C ock & Bull, Goodfriend, the Dubliner, Three Sheets. I used to spend some time at the Gingerman (HH is best, it gets overrun with the young crowd late) but I find Uptown parking to be a beating these days. Also, look at volunteering with an organization you believe in. You will meet a lot better people, both male and female, there than you would in a bar! Going to a bar/night-club/lounge would be the last place I'd go to find a "quality" guy/girl. As the others have posted above, finding a volunteering event, or a community service event would probably be better. Detailed information about all U.S.
